Action Learning Set Cohort 6

Description:

Action Learning is a ‘process of learning and reflection, supported by colleagues, with the intention of getting things done’ (McGill and Beaty 1992). People work on their own real workplace issues and problems and with the facilitation and support from other set met members they are encouraged to plan, reflect and learn from the actions they take on their issues and problems.

The course will be delivered online over five sessions on the following dates:

  • Facilitated preparation session Thursday 17 June 2021, 10:00-11:30
  • Facilitated set meeting 1 Thursday 1 July 2021, 10:00-11:30
  • Facilitated set meeting 2 Thursday 22 July 2021, 10:00-11:30
  • Set meeting 3 Thursday 9 September 2021, 10:00-11:30
  • Set meeting 4 Thursday 7 October 2021, 10:00-11:30
  • Set meeting 5 Thursday 4 November 2021, 10:00-11:30

PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ABLE TO COMMIT TO ALL THE DATES BEFORE BOOKING ON.

Please note, this cohort is for managers.

To support  Knowledge and Library Service staff to navigate the changes and adaptations of services from the COVID-19 pandemic.
A calendar invite with detailed joining information will be sent to the attendees a few days before the session.

The programme is offered in a virtual action learning set format using Microsoft Teams.

The emphasis is on enabling the participants to find their own solutions rather than being told how to fix an issue.

The key features of the adaptation for the virtual setting will be:

  • Reduced set duration – 1.5 hours max
  • Simplification of the agenda and group processes
  • Buddy support between set meetings.

There will be two action learning set cohorts running in parallel.
