Programme Overview: The imperative for the NHS to deliver a more effective and efficient Healthcare System means that NHS Library & Knowledge Services – more than ever – need to demonstrate their integral role in enabling their host and subscribing Trusts to meet their wider objectives.
Developing LKS strategies that clearly demonstrate this co-dependence is an invaluable skill for current and up-coming Heads of Service to master.
In this highly interactive, practical 1 day workshop, we will review and understand what best practice looks like in terms of this critical business skill – and have a go ourselves!
The central aim of this programme is to provide the learning and practise that enables NHS Library & Knowledge Services managers and future managers, to develop a strategy for their services which is both meaningfully joined-up and integrated with the strategy of their host Trust(s) or organisations and the KfH framework. Upon leaving this event you will be able to:
- Decode your Trust’s key documents to understand the strategic intent behind them
- Understand how to write a strategy for your LKS which encompasses the requirements of KfH, whilst hitting the right notes for the Trusts you support (alignment).
- Understand and review best practise within NHS LKS around developing a powerful, concise and aligned strategic ‘plan on a page’
- Consider how you could adapt ‘balanced scorecard’ thinking to create a meaningful and tangible set of impact measures
Target Audience: Both existing Heads of Service and library professionals who are looking to upskill in preparation for eventually transitioning to a Head of Service role
