My name is Flora, and I recently started work as a Library Assistant for the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals at Preston and Chorley.

Having graduated with a History degree, I decided very quickly that I wanted to work in a library or archive setting. I’ve previously worked mostly in archives, first helping to organise the newly formed collection at Greene King (the brewing company) before moving on to a graduate traineeship at the Oxford University Archives. I moved up to the north west recently to start studying a part time MA in Archives and Records Management at the University of Liverpool. My new role and its setting are therefore a little bit unfamiliar to me, but thanks to all the team here settling in has been easy and I’m really looking forward to learning more about this new system I am working in!

In the library, I will mainly be assisting with the the policies and publications databases that the library maintains, as well as other general tasks that help keep the libraries running. I’m really looking forward to working in such an important environment, as well as applying what I work on here to my MA, and learning more about the impact the healthcare libraries here and elsewhere make in their environments.
